OUR COMMITMENT TO HEALTH AND SAFETY
Okanagan Elite Post Construction Compliance Policy (2024)
Purpose and Scope
This Compliance Policy outlines the commitment of Okanagan Elite Post Construction to
uphold industry standards, legal requirements, and specific client expectations in our cleaning
operations, especially for construction site contracts. This policy applies to all employees,
contractors, and subcontractors engaged in cleaning activities on construction sites.
This Health and Safety Program establishes guidelines to protect employees, contractors, and
all others involved in our cleaning operations. It is designed to prevent workplace injuries and
accidents, comply with regulations, and foster a safe, respectful environment.
1. Health and Safety Compliance
Workplace Safety: All employees must follow safety protocols, including the use of
appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and safety boots.
Employees will comply with all site-specific safety standards as outlined by the construction
company.
Accident Reporting: Any accident, near miss, or unsafe condition must be reported
immediately to a supervisor. A formal incident report will be filed and corrective actions taken
to prevent future occurrences.
Training Requirements: Employees are required to complete relevant health and safety
training before beginning work on any construction site. Training will include handling
hazardous materials, spill response, and site-specific orientation as required.
Daily Hazard Assessment: Before beginning work each day, the supervisor or designated
safety officer will conduct a site walkthrough to identify potential hazards, such as uneven
surfaces, sharp objects, or exposure to chemicals. Hazards will be recorded and addressed
immediately.
Control Measures: Identified hazards will be managed through control methods, including
using PPE (gloves, masks, etc.), adjusting work procedures, or restricting access to high-risk
areas until hazards are resolved.
Owner Responsibilities: The owner of Okanagan Elite Post Construction is responsible for implementing
this health and safety program, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, providing
necessary resources (e.g., PPE and training), and regularly reviewing and updating the
program.
Worker Responsibilities: All employees are responsible for adhering to safety policies,
wearing required PPE, reporting hazards or incidents immediately, and participating in safety
training as required.
2. Safety Practices and Procedures for Cleaning on Construction Sites
Use of PPE: All employees must wear appropriate PPE for tasks, including gloves, masks,
safety glasses, and footwear. Failure to wear PPE may result in removal from the worksite.
Chemical Handling and Disposal: Only approved cleaning agents may be used, and they must
be stored and disposed of per site requirements and environmental regulations.
Heavy Equipment Safety: When working near construction equipment, employees must stay
alert and maintain a safe distance. Communication with equipment operators is essential to
avoid accidents.
Slip, Trip, and Fall Prevention: Employees are required to keep their work areas clear of
tripping hazards and be mindful of wet floors or cluttered pathways.
3.Emergency Response Plan
Evacuation Procedures: In the event of an emergency, employees will follow the evacuation
plan specific to the construction site, including designated exits and assembly points.
Fire Safety: All employees must know the location of fire extinguishers and fire alarms. Any
employee who discovers a fire should immediately report it to the supervisor, sound the alarm,
and evacuate.
Medical Emergencies: First aid kits will be available on-site, and employees are encouraged to
report any injuries promptly. If medical attention is required, follow the procedure outlined in
the emergency response plan.
4. Environmental Compliance
Waste Management: Waste disposal practices will follow both legal and client-specific
requirements, with an emphasis on proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Recycling will be prioritized where possible, with appropriate bins clearly labeled on site.
Chemical Usage: Only approved cleaning chemicals will be used, prioritizing those with
minimal environmental impact. Non-toxic and biodegradable products are preferred.
Spill Control: In case of a chemical spill, employees are required to follow spill containment
and cleanup protocols, reporting incidents to both the site supervisor and Okanagan Elite Post Construction management immediately.
5. Quality Standards
Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Okanagan Elite Post Construction commits to meeting the
cleanliness, timeliness, and service quality standards as per the agreement with our clients
specific requirements and governmental regulations.
Quality Control Inspections: Regular quality inspections will be conducted by Okanagan Elite
Post Construction to ensure standards are met. The client may also perform their own quality
checks as per contract terms.
Corrective Actions: Should a quality issue arise, corrective measures will be implemented
immediately. This may include additional training for employees or adjustments to cleaning
procedures.
6. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Labor Laws: Okanagan Elite Post Construction complies with all relevant labor laws, including
fair wages, working hours, and health and safety standards for cleaning staff.
Data Protection: Any client data accessed during operations will be managed in accordance
with data protection regulations to maintain confidentiality.

on-site, maintaining respect and cooperation with other contractors and staff on the premises.

any sensitive information encountered during their work.
